Asian Celadon Elephant Teapot. This  popular motif shows a young boy riding on the back of an elephant. The Chinese believe the pairing of the elephant and young rider announces the arrival of good fortune.   Our Celadon teapot is an artistic adoption of this ancient Chinese theme.  The teapot itself is formed like an elephant and its removable lid is shaped like the rider.  Chinese makers mark on bottom. Many copies of these Celadon teapots were sold by Pier 1, however each one was stamped Pier 1 on the bottom. Ours is not signed Pier 1 it has Chinese symbols on the bottom.
