Throughout Asia, the crane is a symbol of happiness and eternal youth. In Japan, the crane is one of the mystical or holy creatures (others include the dragon and the tortoise) and symbolizes good fortune and longevity because of its fabled life span of a thousand years.
So here is a great looking, vintage, heavy pewter crane. It is pewter/silver colored with gold/brass accents on its top half. The top lifts off to reveal the ‘box’ underneath for storing small items of jewelry, trinkets etc. It is beautifully detailed piece, despite being a vintage piece from the 1970’s and is in very good condition.. There are some scratches on lower body, but they cannot be seen once the top half is set in place. Our sweet bird was made in Hong Kong and still has the vintage Macy’s label on it. It is 4 1/2″ High by 6”Long . Highly detailed The Crane is an awesome shelf or coffee table ornament.
Please remember this is a vintage piece. Most are used and will show some signs of “normal wear” that comes with age. We are very careful not to destroy any patina that may have formed as we think it adds to the beauty of these pieces. Of course you may want to polish or clean off the patina, and that is totally up to you. As we describe each piece if we find any flaws or defects we will point them out in the description. If we have replaced any parts or made other repairs, we will also note these in the description.
